Orange and Blue Brigade Marching Band  -  Required for all members of the band program grades 10 through 12.  Freshmen may choose to audition for this group if they have a serious interest in participating. 

 

Wind Ensemble- - The top concert group at Olathe East.  Students wishing to participate in this group must complete an audition.  Audition information is distributed to students in March.  Live auditions are held at Olathe East in April.  

 

Drumline -  The most competitive group at Olathe East.   All students grades 10-12 are expected to participate in the drumline.  An audition determines which instrument the student will play during marching season.  The drumline audition packet will be delivered to students (including current 8th graders) around February.  Live auditions are usually held in April.

 

Symphonic Band/Concert Band-  Both of these groups are open groups that do not require auditions.  Symphonic Band is primarily a Sophomore/Junior group.  Concert Band is primarily freshmen who did not march.

Jazz Band- The top jazz ensemble at Olathe East is called the NightHawks Jazz Band.  This group is determined by audition depending on instrumentation and student requests.  The Olathe East Jazz Combo is also an audition only group.  Students interested in auditioning for Nighthawks or the Jazz Combo should contact Mrs. Fillingham by email.  First semester Jazz Band class is an open group that does not require audition.
